Chelsea could make Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone their next manager after a mixed start to life under fan favourite Frank Lampard.
The Argentine boss led the underdogs to the league title back in 2014 and has created one of the best defensive sides on the planet.
Lampard’s team have struggled at the back and seen their positive as favourites to qualify for the Champions League dwindle in the last few months.
Italian publication tuttomercatoweb have now reported that west London is a possible destination for the former Inter Milan midfielder, with his current side struggling so far this season.
Los Rojiblancos sit fourth in La Liga and 12 points behind rivals Real Madrid despite Simeone being one of the best paid managers in European football.
The 2018 Europa League winners could consider a change in approach having failed to keep up with both Real and Barcelona.
Lampard was left frustrated by Chelsea’s failure to make any signings during the January transfer window, pointing to rivals Manchester United and their move for Bruno Fernandes.
“Look at Manchester United signing a big, big player, a world class player in my opinion,” said Lampard.

“And the teams around us, Sheffield United making fantastic signings.
“Chris Wilder’s job is incredible because he’s had years to work that group and now they’re adding where he sees fit.
“Tottenham have signed a few, and they’re not far behind us.
“And not only have they signed a few, but a couple of players have left where they were towards the end of their contracts and maybe weren’t happy being at the club. Sometimes that’s as important as bringing players in.
