Former Liverpool winger Steve McManaman believes Hakim Ziyech will prove to be a “big signing” for Chelsea next season.
The Moroccan international will join the Blues from Ajax this summer after a £33.4million deal was agreed between the two clubs last week.
He will spend the rest of the season at Ajax before joining Chelsea on July 1, with Ziyech becoming the first permanent first team signing for Frank Lampard during his time in charge of the Blues.
And BT Sport pundit Steve McManaman believes Ziyech could be a key man for Lampard and the Blues next season, having shown his quality already on the European stage during Ajax’s run to the semi-finals of the Champions League last season.

“I’m really excited. I know he was one of Frank Lampard’s main targets and I know he wanted the deal done in the transfer window and tried to bring him in for now,” he said, in his column for HorseRacing.net.
“I know he wanted to bring in a few more players during the January transfer window to push them on for the remainder of the season.
Hakim Ziyech to Chelsea
“They didn’t bring in anybody which was unfortunate for Frank and Chelsea but at least they’ve got one of their big name players in for the start of next season.
“He’s a lovely passer of the ball isn’t he? He played against Chelsea this season in the Champions League and he created many chances and was very dangerous.
“I think it’s a big signing for Frank and it’s a really nice signing as he’s a good age, he’s got a really good profile and he’s got a good attitude.”
