It was a London derby day to remember for Frank Lampard and his Chelsea side as the Blues claimed victory against Tottenham.

Goals from Olivier Giroud and Marcos Alonso helped the Blues to a 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge, with Lampard’s men completing a league double over their London rivals.

The win was a huge boost to Chelsea in the battle to finish in the top four, with the Blues moving four points ahead of Spurs with 11 games to play.

But the game was packed full of drama, with Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso escaping a red card after a VAR review for a challenge on Cesar Azpilicueta.

The big Olivier Giroud decision

Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard made some big decisions for the Blues’ 2-1 win against Tottenham.

But they paid off for the Blues’ head coach, with Giroud and Alonso both on target in the victory against Chelsea’s London rivals.

But Giroud has given Lampard plenty to ponder with his performance in the Blues’ 2-1 win against Tottenham, which makes the Blues’ head coach’s decision to use him so infrequently this season all the more puzzling, as Chelsea correspondent Oliver Harbord explains.

Lampard will now have another big decision though over whether to keep faith with the Frenchman when Tammy Abraham returns to full fitness.
