Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich was in a confident mood ahead of the Bundesliga champions’ Champions League clash against Chelsea on Tuesday night.
The 25-year-old attended the club’s pre-match press conference ahead of the first leg of the Round of 16 tie at Stamford Brirdge.
With his club currently top of the league and dispatching Tottenham with a 7-2 victory in London this season, the versatile star has reasons to be confident, and gave a rather blunt verdict on this week’s opponents.
“A very young squad but some very good players with a lot of talent,” he told reporters.

“I think in the last few weeks they haven’t been as consistent as they can be. They are fourth in the table but everyone is in the shadow of Liverpool.
“I expect a great atmosphere tomorrow. We must be brave in how we perform.”
The right-back, who can also play as a defensive midfielder, was also asked about facing Reece James, who has been one of Chelsea’s standout players after breaking into the first team this year.
However, Kimmich admitted that he had not seen too much of the Blues this season, and stated that Bayern would be well prepared for the clash regardless of who they line up against.
“I haven’t seen many games of Chelsea,” he added. “We’ve got videos to prepare for the game in the hotel.
“But I think you don’t just play one player, it’s a whole team. And we’ll show we have a very good plan for this game.”
