Jadon Sancho is said to be considering a longer spell in the Bundesliga in a blow to Manchester United and Chelsea plans.
Both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Frank Lampard have been linked with moves for the the 19-year-old as he continues to break goal and assist records since leaving Manchester City for Borussia Dortmund in 2018.
The England international has caught the eye of Premier League rivals after scoring 30 goals and laying on 41 assists in just 87 fixtures since making his first professional debut two years ago.
Stamford Bridge is a logical destination considering their recent lack of spending and the fact he supported them as a boy, but Champions League qualification could help United convince Sancho to join his former rivals.
German outlet Ruhr Nachrichte now report that the playmaker is considering remaining at the club beyond the end of the season despite a reported argument with manager Lucien Favre in November.
The report adds that although he might not force an exit in the summer, he could chose to stay another six months in order to lower the asking price from Dortmund with his contract up in June of 2022.
The Athletic reported that Sancho was left feeling humiliated after being brought off after only 36 minutes in an embarrassing 4-0 defeat at Bayern Munich, but the lack of a winter move suggests that they are now on better terms.
“He’s a world-class player, no question about that,” the Swiss manager said in December.
