Chelsea injury news: Expected return dates for Loftus-Cheek and Abraham ahead of Bournemouth

Chelsea have a number of injury concerns heading into the final two months of the 2019/2020 season.

With Champions League qualification and the FA Cup still to play for, Frank Lampard will be hopeful that injuries don’t hamper his first season as Blues head coach.

Winning Europe’s biggest prize does seem unlikely following a 3-0 round of 16 first-leg defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich on Tuesday night as the west Londoners were undone in the second half at Stamford Bridge.

But the Blues will be looking to bounce back quickly as they look to pick up three points in order to consolidate themselves in the top four of the Premier League.

Lampard’s side face a trip to the south coast to take on Bournemouth as they look to gain a measure of revenge on the Cherries after suffering a shock 1-0 defeat in the reverse meeting earlier in the season.

Tammy Abraham

Chelsea have been handed a fresh blow over Tammy Abraham.

Following two quickfire goals from Bayern after half-time, Abraham was introduced with half an hour remaining.

He looked set to go through on goal after the visitors had added a third, but was challenged by Jerome Boateng, with both players staying down after the tackle.

Abraham shook off the blow to carry on, but it looks as if it may have caused more damage for the England international.

N’Golo Kante

The Blues lost the central midfielder early on against Man United last week and Lampard confirmed the extent of the injury afterwards.

“It’s an adductor injury. We will have to assess it, scan it,” he said.

“But it doesn’t look great.”
