RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano has said that his teammate Timo Werner ‘can only get better’ amid links with a summer transfer to Chelsea and Liverpool.
Werner has been linked with a summer move to both Anfield and Stamford Bridge as both teams look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.
Frank Lampard has been open in his wish to bring in a new striker as he looks to take the burden off main forward Tammy Abraham.
Latest reports also claim that Werner’s release clause is significantly lower than first reported with Sport1 claiming that it is actually worth just €30m (£25m) plus performance-based bonuses.

The German international has scored 21 goals in 23 Bundesliga appearances for Leipzig so far this season, and scored the penalty to put the German side 1-0 up in the first leg of their Champions League tie against Spurs.
Talking to Fussball Transfers , Upamecano has spoken of Werner’s importance to the team.
“He is very talented, but he is also not finished yet. I think it will increase further,” he said.
“He’s a real killer in front of the gate. I am sure that he will score many more goals. We need him.”
Upamecano himself has been linked with a link away from RB Leipzig in the summer, with Arsenal and Chelsea said to be interested in a move for the central defender.
