Chelsea have reportedly turned their attention to Serhou Guirassy as Frank Lampard plots a summer overhaul.
The club legend has performed impressively in his first season managing the club.
But after being under a transfer embargo last summer – and then subsequently failing to snare any top targets in January – a squad rebuilding job is needed.
It’s understood Lampard will be given cash to splash despite the Blues reining in spending over the last few years.
One player already being earmarked as a potentially imminent arrival is Guirassy.
The 23-year-old is viewed as a rising star and has managed seven goals in 25 games after initially joining Amiens on loan.
According to The Sun , Lampard has been tracking the Frenchman and will send scouts to watch him live this week.
Relegation-threatened Amiens are willing to sanction a summer transfer now if it means getting some certainty.
They want to plan for the future and a guaranteed sale for £20m-rated Guirassy would enable that.
Tottenham also have a long-term interest in him, though.
Chelsea’s Frank Lampard is in the market for a new forward
Jose Mourinho is eager to bolster his front line and views the powerful attacker as an affordable attacking option.
If Lampard manages to get a deal for Guirassy over the line, it will only be the start of a busy summer in the transfer market.
Jadon Sancho, Jan Oblak, Dayot Upamecano, Ben Chilwell and Timo Werner have all been touted as potential arrivals.
It’s suggested up to £300m could be spent in a bid to make the club title challengers again.
