Frank Lampard has just done his press conference ahead of his team’s game against Liverpool, and while he was talking at Cobham, unbeknownst to him his opposite number Jurgen Klopp was up at Melwood showering him with praise:
“Frank is doing a fabulous job. It’s brilliant,” he said, speaking at the press conference ahead of his team’s clash with Chelsea tomorrow.
“Super job from what I can see. I like the project a lot. Having that amount of sensational young players is nice,” he continued, in quotes picked up by Football.London.
That’s high praise in a moment where the Blues boss is under serious pressure. Klopp himself had a couple of years struggling to build a team at Liverpool before things really got into gear.
He will see a lot of parallels in what Lampard is doing, except under even more difficult circumstances given the transfer ban and the injury crisis that is now overwhelming the club.
Those kind words from the man who is currently top of the pile in the world of football managers will mean a lot to Lampard, and the two will be very much in friendly competition on the sidelines tomorrow night.
