Chelsea news: Christian Pulisic injury latest, Jurgen Klopp’s message for Blues, Liverpool hint

It is game day for Chelsea as the Blues welcome Premier League leaders Liverpool to Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup fifth round.

The Blues host the Reds in west London, with Liverpool looking to bounce back from their first defeat in the Premier League this season, after a shock 3-0 defeat against Watford on Saturday.

That was Liverpool’s first defeat domestically in the 2019/20 campaign, and Klopp has spoken of the importance of trying to bounce back swiftly from the setback.

Chelsea is their first opportunity to do so, with a place in the FA Cup quarter-final at stake for the winner.

Pulisic injury latest

One player who won’t feature against the Reds is USA international Christian Pulisic.

The former Borussia Dortmund star has not featured for the Blues since the 1-1 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion on New Year’s Day.

He is currently sidelined with a hip injury, and Lampard has given an update on his situation.

“It is certainly frustrating, particularly for Christian who has had a big phase out now,” he said.

“He is desperate to get back. It is only a concern that I have every week when they are not fit. It is no greater.

“I hope when I am not giving an answer, it is not like I am looking into the distance, I hope they [Abraham and Pulisic] will be fit over the next week or two but I can’t say that with clarity because they have both had their issues.

“That has been a difficult one and my concern remains the same as it was always.”
