Kepa Arrizabalaga starts for Chelsea during their FA Cup clash with Liverpool but Frank Lampard claims it is “just an opportunity”.
The Spanish goalkeeper has been out of the starting XI for over a month following a string of questionable displays.
Willy Caballero has filled in for the last six games and failed to keep a clean sheet but Lampard refused to get drawn on “politics” as he offered Arrizabalaga a chance to stake his claim for a return.
“I don’t want to get political it is just a choice,” he said before the game.
“I’ve said all season that I’ve got two competitive goalkeepers in terms of Willy and himself.

“It is an opportunity to play his best – I always go on training and performances.
“I’ve got no doubts he can come in and do a good job because of the keeper that he is so it is just an opportunity to do well.”
The FA Cup is Chelsea’s only real chance of silverware this term but they have been handed potentially the toughest possible opponent.

Liverpool won the league fixture in west London earlier this year but are looking to bounce back from a 3-0 reverse at Watford on Saturday.
But Lampard didn’t believe he was playing the Reds at a “good time” given they have lost two of their last three in all competitions.
He claimed: “You cannot give that answer, they are a great team and they lose a game which might give them a small lift in a strange way. In my mind we are up against prime Liverpool of this season.
“We have lost both games narrowly against them this season. it is a still a strong team and whatever team they put out it will be a test.”
