The moment against Liverpool that summed up Billy Gilmour’s brilliant Chelsea performance

Billy Gilmour was named the man of the match in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Liverpool in the FA Cup fifth round at Stamford Bridge.

“Today he (Gilmour) was brilliant. It’s not a surprise to me. He showed that with the little chances he’s had,” he told the BBC after the game.

With the teenager impressing, there was one moment during the second-half of the game that summed up his impressive performance.

In the closing stages of the game, Gilmour had the ball in the centre of the pitch and pulled off an audacious nutmeg on midfield rival Fabinho before playing a perfectly weighted through-ball to Blues’ striker Olivier Giroud.

The trickery left the Reds’ midfielder perplexed for half a second before he could work out what happened, and the moment didn’t get past the attention of fans on social media .

Gilmour’s impressive performance could now see him retain his place for Chelsea’s Premier League game against Everton, especially with fellow midfielder Mateo Kovacic picking up an injury during the game.
