Kovacic, Willian, Kante – Latest Chelsea injury news and return dates ahead of Everton clash

Chelsea booked their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals by beating Liverpool 2-0 at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.

Goals from Willian and Ross Barkley sealed the impressive win over Jurgen Klopp’s side, and now Frank Lampard will be looking ahead to the Premier League clash against Everton on Sunday.

But the Blues will go into the game with a number of fresh injuries picked up against the Reds.

Mateo Kovacic

Mateo Kovacic was forced off in the first-half against Liverpool after a tackle from Sadio Mane.

The former Real Madrid midfielder, who has been one of Chelsea’s stand out performers this season, was replaced by Mason Mount just three minutes before the break.

Speaking after the game, Frank Lampard said: “Both [and Willian] have got an Achilles’ issue.

“Willian hopefully is not too bad, that is what he is reporting there so we will see how he is tomorrow. Kovacic’s feels slightly worse. Hopefully not too drastic, so we’ll see.”


Willian pulled up with a suspected Achilles problem while tracking back early in the second half against Liverpool, and will be assessed ahead of the weekend.

Andreas Christensen

Andreas Christensen missed the Liverpool game, despite playing the full 90 minutes of the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday.

“[Andreas] Christensen has a small issue, which we’re going to give another 24 hours, but it probably puts him out of the game for tomorrow,” he said, speaking at his pre-match press conference.

The centre-back will be assessed ahead of the Everton game.

Tammy Abraham

Tammy Abraham missed the Liverpool game with illness, but could be back for the weekend game against Everton.
