Kurt Zouma has praised Billy Gilmour’s display against Liverpool in the 2-0 FA Cup win at Stamford Bridge, and says the midfielder simply replicated what he showed in training before the match.
The 18-year-old was handed a start in the centre of midfield by Frank Lampard, but repaid the faith with a man-of-the-match performance against Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Goals from Willian and Ross Barkley sealed the win, and booked Chelsea’s place in the quarter-finals of the competition.
Speaking after the game, Zouma, who started alongside Antonio Rudiger at centre-back, hailed Gilmour’s outstanding showing, and said his performance was a sign of things to come from the former Rangers youth player.
