Cesc Fabregas on the four qualities that Billy Gilmour showed
Former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has hailed Billy Gilmour’s role in the Blues’ 2-0 win over Liverpool in the FA Cup fifth round.
Goals from Willian and Ross Barkley sealed Chelsea’s place in the quarter-finals, but it was 18-year-old Gilmour who was named man-of-the-match for his display against Jurgen Klopp’s side, after producing a performance of skill and composure on the ball which belied his teenage years.
Speaking before the game, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard had said it was a “comfortable choice” to name the youngster in his team.
But he was proved right as Gilmour outshone his more senior midfield teammates and helped Chelsea pick up the deserved win over the Premier League leaders.

Kurt Zouma hails Billy Gilmour
Kurt Zouma has praised Billy Gilmour’s display against Liverpool in the 2-0 FA Cup win at Stamford Bridge, and says the midfielder simply replicated what he showed in training before the match.
The 18-year-old was handed a start in the centre of midfield by Frank Lampard, but repaid the faith with a man-of-the-match performance against Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Goals from Willian and Ross Barkley sealed the win, and booked Chelsea’s place in the quarter-finals of the competition.
Speaking after the game, Zouma, who started alongside Antonio Rudiger at centre-back, hailed Gilmour’s outstanding showing, and said his performance was a sign of things to come from the former Rangers youth player.
