Carlo Ancelotti returns to Chelsea tomorrow for the first time he was sacked by the club in 2011 – and some Blues officials still regret firing him.
The Italian is heading back to Stamford Bridge with Everton on Sunday and is bound to receive a warm welcome, having guided Chelsea to a famous Premier League and FA Cup double in 2010.
Ironically, Ancelotti was handed his P45 in brutal fashion just one year later, discovering he had lost his job in the Goodison Park corridor on the final day of the 2010/11 campaign.
After finishing second in the league that season, his sacking was certainly one of Roman Abramovich’s harshest.

And according to The Sun , there are regrets among the Chelsea hierarchy for dismissing Ancelotti so prematurely.
Abramovich’s ruthless hire-and-fire strategy has worked wonders for the Blues over the years, with five Premier League titles, as many FA Cups, three League Cups and one glorious Champions League to show for it.
Yet it is believed Ancelotti’s sacking is regarded as a mistake by some at the Bridge.

The former AC Milan gaffer went on to enjoy great success after leaving Chelsea, winning the French title with Paris St-Germain before guiding Real Madrid to their iconic ‘La Decima’ Champions League triumph.
He later joined Bayern Munich , where he clinched the Bundesliga title, before enduring an unsuccessful stint at Napoli.
After being sacked by the Italian outfit in December, Ancelotti sealed a return to England by taking the Everton reins.
