Chelsea star Tammy Abraham has rejected the club’s latest contract offer.
It now leaves Frank Lampard in a sticky situation, who had promoted the striker to the first-team this season.
The England international has been the top scorer at Stamford Bridge this year with 15 goals in all competitions.
It has seen the Blues clamber to fourth in the Premier League while also in the FA Cup and Champions League .
Abraham’s importance has been reflected in the fact no other player is in double figures in terms of goals scored.
Michy Batshuayi, Willian, Christian Pulisic and Jorginho all have six while Mason Mount has five.
Tammy Abraham is out injured at the moment
It had been hoped that Abraham’s elevated position in the squad could convince him his future remains at Chelsea.
But according to the Mirror, the 22-year-old has rejected the latest offer from his boyhood club.
He has two years remaining on his current deal so there is no huge rush to tie him down to a new one.
However, his situation highlights a problematic area for Lampard.
The Mirror go on to state that Abraham is holding out for pay parity of his fellow team-mates.
For example, Callum Hudson-Odoi managed to land a deal worth up to £180,000-a-week in September after his contract ran into its final year.
Frank Lampard has made Tammy Abraham a key player this season
This could mean big problems in the future, with that number now appearing to be the benchmark for players and agents alike.
Lampard can breathe a sigh of relief that the likes of Fikayo Tomori, Reece James and Mount have already been tied down this season.
But for players such as Tino Anjorin and Billy Gilmour, this could prove a stumbling block.
Meanwhile, Abraham has been struggling with an ankle injury of late and is a major doubt for the clash against Everton today.
