Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has been urged to give Billy Gilmour his Champions League debut after the 18-year-old’s excellent performances for the Blues.
Gilmour made a few cameo appearances at the start of the season, before really shining in the 2-0 FA Cup win over Liverpool.
The teenager was named man of the match in that game and followed it up with another man of the match display in Chelsea’s 4-0 win over Everton.
Now, ex-Chelsea winger Karen Carney believes Gilmour has shown enough in those two games to warrant him playing against German giants Bayern Munich in the Champions League second leg tie at the Allianz Arena.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Carney said: “Billy Gilmour recycled everything, played everything really simple – one and two touch.
“He poured energy into that midfield and played at a level way beyond his 18 years. He’s got it all. I’m really impressed. Do you play him in the Champions League? I certainly would. I wouldn’t have any hesitation.
“I was just watching Frank Lampard applaud the fans as they were singing his name. He’s been spot on today – tactics, substitutes.

“He will be absolutely delighted with the team performance. Four different goalscorers, clean sheet – what a day.”
Speaking in his post match press conference, Lampard was full of praise for Gilmour, saying: “He’s receiving the ball in difficult areas on the pitch.
“If you don’t move it quickly, firstly you don’t get the rhythm in our play and it breaks down from, and secondly if you give it away in those areas it is dangerous.
