Diego Costa is back in England and winding up one of Chelsea’s rivals for one night only.
Anfield provided the stage for the former Blues striker to get under the skin of Liverpool fans on a momentous night in the Champions League.
The Brazil-born Spain international was a fan favourite at Stamford Bridge. He won the Premier League twice in their colours, first with Jose Mourinho as manager before coming good again for Antonio Conte.
While he may have left under a cloud after forcing a move back to Atletico Madrid, the La Liga side that sold him to Chelsea in 2014, it didn’t undermine the warmth many supporters still hold for him.

At Anfield, having arrived to spoil Jurgen Klopp’s evening with Diego Simeone and his team mates, the striker set about causing rancour once more.
The Spaniards took a 1-0 lead into their second leg clash on Merseyside, and boasted one of the very best records in the Champions League for clean sheets and holding on to a lead from such a position.
Nerves were therefore understandably unsteady for the home supporters, which Costa could clearly sense as he made sure to make mischief where he could.

On social media both Chelsea fans and other viewers lapped up the occasion and the chance to see the two-time English champion at a Premier League ground doing what he does best.
Costa scored 59 goals in 120 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions, winning the Premier League title on two occasions and also lifting the League Cup in 2015.
