Chelsea’s £12.5m transfer mistake

Mario Pasalic – on loan at Atalanta – is through to the latter stages of the Champions League after helping the Serie A side to overcome Valencia over two legs in the round of 16.

The Croatia international is responsible for Frank Lampard potentially receiving a welcome windfall which will help to boost his summer transfer budget at the Bridge.

According to the Guardian, Atalanta will take up the option to turn Pasalic’s loan move into a permanent transfer at the end of the season in a deal worth €15m (£12.5m) which will come in handy after splashing out £33.4m to agree a deal with Ajax for the signing of Hakim Ziyech when the summer transfer window opens.
