Chelsea behind the scenes: Summer transfer plans, Telles, Pulisic injury update, FA Cup target

Chelsea are riding a wave of momentum as the end of the season draws closer and closer.

As things stand, maximum points from their remaining nine games in the Premier League will seal a return to the Champions League for next term and thus avoiding Thursday night’s in the Europa League.

Whilst overturning a 3-0 first-leg deficit against Bayern Munich seems like mission impossible, Frank Lampard could yet guide Chelsea to some silverware with the FA Cup.

It promises to be an exciting end to the club legend’s first season in charge of the Blues.

With no games for the Gunners this midweek, our Chelsea writer Oliver Harbord gave his thoughts on some of the big talking points at Stamford Bridge right now during a Q&A with fans on Thursday where he was asked questions on topics ranging from summer transfer targets to injury news.

Here is what he had to say on what is going on behind the scenes in west London.

Is Alex Telles Lampard’s first choice for that LB spot?

Oliver Harbord says: “On the radar. Alex Telles is another player who will be looked at over the summer as a potential left-back option.

“Emerson has been rarely used, while Marcos Alonso has certainly got himself back into the first team thinking.

“Meanwhile, youngster Ian Maatsen has just signed a new four-year deal, but the likelihood is that he is going to be loaned out to get more experience and is a more long-term prospect.

But for the Blues in the short term, Cesar Azpilicueta is not the main solution for the left-back position.

“However, Ben Chilwell is also on the radar for the summer, along with Telles.
