Liverpool could miss out on the signing of Timo Werner this summer as he is guaranteed regular game time at Chelsea instead.
The Blues are keen on a move for the RB Leipzig striker as well as Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Germany international Werner has publicly admitted he has been left flattered by Liverpool’s interest.
But he would certainly face strong competition for a place in attack at Anfield with Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
European football expert Andy Brassell has suggested Frank Lampard’s Chelsea may be in a stronger position to lure Werner to the Premier League from the Bundesliga.
Discussing the 24-year-old goalscorer’s future, Brassell told talkSPORT : “Of course he’s made such a push for Liverpool in the media opportunities he’s had over recent weeks, but I wonder if Chelsea could be in the mix as well.

“You could see him walking into that team a lot easier.
“The question is with Liverpool, especially with them going out the Champions League, it does tell you that success, however good, it is finite.
“And at some point Liverpool, however brilliant they are, they’re going to have to make changes to that team.

“You can’t leave a team and just say: ‘It’s perfect, we can’t improve it’. That’s now how football works.
“So the idea of Werner coming in to compete with those players and maybe even replacing one of them eventually is not completely off the table.”
At Stamford Bridge, Lampard has just Tammy Abraham, Michay Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud to choose from up front, meaning Werner would likely slot straight in as his first-choice frotman.
