Former Premier League manager Alex McLeish has heaped the praise on Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour, likening him to a French football legend.
The teenager was his side’s standout performer in their FA Cup win against Liverpool at the start of the month, before following that performance up with another impressive display against Everton last weekend.
Gilmour, who joined the Blues from Rangers as a 16-year-old, has been part of Frank Lampard’s first team squad for large parts of the season.
And McLeish has linked the midfielder to Alain Giresse, who was named French footballer of the year in 1982, 1983 and 1987, with the Chelsea youngster always “one step ahead” of his opponents.
