Philippe Coutinho sent message over Chelsea move amid Barcelona loan links

Former Barcelona star Rivaldo has urged Philippe Coutinho to snub interest from Chelsea this summer and fight for his place in Spain.

The Brazilian international is currently on loan at Bayern Munich from the Catalan giants, having failed to really make an impression in La Liga.

This season, the 27-year-old has netted eight Bundesliga goals and notched another six assists. However, with just 15 league starts he has struggled to get a regular spot.

The Blues have been linked with a move away from Barcelona once again for the 2020/21 season, with a potential season on loan at Stamford Bridge.

But Rivaldo believes Coutinho should snub any move away and look to see out his contract until 2023 at the Camp Nou.

“It looks like Bayern Munich won’t pay Philippe Coutinho’s option clause at the end of the season and the player is likely to return to Barcelona,” Rivaldo told Betfair.

“I always thought Coutinho would adapt better to Spanish football than German, as there are some language and lifestyle issues that could be a little different for a Brazilian in Germany.

“Unfortunately, it hasn’t gone well for the player in either league and he will be returning to Barcelona. It’s up to the club and manager to decide whether he is going to have another chance next season or not.
