The Premier League’s joint-announcement with the FA, EFL and women’s football clubs that no football will be played until April 30 at the earliest owing to the coronavirus pandemic means that another four Chelsea league games will be rescheduled upon the eventual resumption.
However, the leagues have also announced their plan to extend the season indefinitely – increasing the likelihood of the campaign reaching a full conclusion in the summer rather than just being cancelled.
“We are united in our commitment to finding ways of resuming the 2019/20 football season and ensuring all domestic and European club league and cup matches are played as soon as it is safe and possible to do so,” the joint statement read.
In total Chelsea now have eight fixtures requiring new dates and it could be more should the campaign be delayed again.

Three away games, including the London derbies against West Ham United and Crystal Palace, plus the visit to Sheffield United had been scheduled for April, on top of a home against Watford at Stamford Bridge.
The FA Cup will also be pushed back. Chelsea had been scheduled to travel to Leicester City in the quarter-finals this coming Saturday.
Uefa have already agreed to extend the Champions League and Europa League to the end of June but even then a May restart would lead to a hectic period for Frank Lampard’s team.
