Chelsea were still building themselves up as a European power in the early 2000s, bringing in players from across the continent to West London to try and establish themselves.
One of the less glamorous additions was Claude Makelele of Real Madrid. But his impact ended up being enormous, both at Chelsea and in the Premier League as a whole.
