Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has encouraged his old club to beat off interest from Chelsea and make a summer move for Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho.
The England international has been the subject of a transfer tug-of-war between Chelsea and Manchester United, with latest reports from the Irish Independent suggesting that the player has “unofficially confirmed” that he will be moving to Old Trafford in the summer.
Chelsea do however remain keen on the 20-year-old and will continue to hold out hope of completing a deal ahead of their Premier League rivals.
Sancho is likely to cost over £100 million, and Ferdinand has warned the player over choosing his next move carefully.

“It’s massive money but I’d take him. I’d tell him ‘You’re the guy we are going to build the team around’….
