Chelsea have made no secret of the fact that they are on the lookout for a striker in the upcoming transfer window.
The Blues were looking to bring in a forward player during the January window in take the burden of goalscoring off the shoulders of main striker Tammy Abraham however their efforts were to no avail.
Chelsea’s need for a striker is only going to grow in the coming months, with Olivier Giroud out of contract at the club and Michy Batshuayi having fallen down the pecking order under Frank Lampard.
One name that was linked with Chelsea in January and continues to be linked with the club is RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.

The German international is likely to have a lot of suitors in the summer, having scored 21 goals in 25 Bundesliga appearances so far this season.
It appeared that Liverpool may have been winning the race for the 24-year-old with the striker said to be at the top of Jurgen Klopp’s wishlist when the window opens.
Werner has also spoken of his delight at being linked with the Reds.
“I know Liverpool is the best team in the moment in the world,” he told Viasport. “When you’re linked with that team it makes me very proud.”

However, one current Liverpool player could cast doubts over a deal that will see Werner go to Anfield and be key to Chelsea’s hopes of signing the striker.
According to the Liverpool Echo, the form of youngster Rhian Brewster, who is on loan at Championship side Swansea City could make Jurgen Klopp think twice about paying out around £50 million for Werner in order to make a pathway for the 19-year-old.
