Premier League confirms plans for 2019/2020 season
It was the news nobody wanted to hear, but everyone expected.
After initially postponing top-flight football in England until April 30, the Premier League have now taken the decision to halt the game indefinitely amid the coronavirus epidemic.
Those in charge have committed to returning only “when it is safe and appropriate to do so.”

Players will also be asked to take a 30% wage drop with no imminent return for football in sight as the nation battles with coronavirus.
Previously the governing bodies of the English game had agreed that no football would be played until April 30 amid the COVID-19 pandemic though it was widely acknowledged before this afternoon’s meeting of the 20 clubs that such a return date would be impossible.
A video conference call between the heads of the 20 top-flight teams saw them reassert their commitment to completing the 2019/20 campaign, not least because voiding the season could cost the clubs £750million in broadcast revenue that would have to be paid back.

A statement from the league said: “It was acknowledged that the Premier League will not resume at the beginning of May – and that the 2019/20 season will only return when it is safe and appropriate to do so.
