Chelsea have been looking for a premier centre back for a few years now, with Antonio Rudiger now really stepping up to become the dominant presence we’d hoped a few years down the line.
One option for this summer, according to The Sun is Jerome Boateng. The Bayern Munich defender has been a stalwart for his country and club for a long time now, and the 31 year old is apparently ready for a new challenge.
He would certainly bring a level of maturity and class to a back line that has plenty of talent but not much experience. Arsenal are also – understandably – chasing him, but he might see Chelsea as a superior landing spot.
We’ve got a more recent history of winning trophies, and playing under Frank Lampard must be a temptation for a player who came up against the Blues boss multiple times on the pitch over the years.
