Why Mertens connections to Chelsea are as credible as ever » Chelsea News

Chelsea have been linked with all manner of moves for attackers over the last few years, and Dries Mertens is a name that has come up time and again.

The Belgium winger has shone at Napoli for so mant tears now that his name has been mentioned in connection with Premier League sides like Chelsea countless times.

But only now that the Serie A side are looking to clean house, and the winger’s contract is running down, do the exit rumours seem credible.

The Daily Star are one of the papers still talking about Mertens as an easy deal for Chelsea to pull off in the summer as they look to bring in a versatile and experienced forward to take the place of the departing Pedro and Willian.

Given he wouldn’t cost much and would probably ask for a relatively short contract, it’s a move we can see Frank Lampard liking the look of.

He hardly blocks the progress of others, while adding a class option.

Could we be about to finally see the Mertens to Premier League move at last?
