When Frank Lampard threw young Billy Gilmour into action against Liverpool and then Everton in the final week that was played of this season, people said that the manager was taking a risk.
The 18 year old kid with a slight frame and just a pair of senior starts – surely he can’t be ready?
But speaking on Sky Sports’ Premier League show from his home, Lamps denied that, and says he had no choice other than to throw his young prodigy into action after a string of superb training performanes.
“He had to [get his chance]” Frank said, modestly refusing any credit for making the call to pick him.
