Barcelona have reportedly come up with a plan to land N’Golo Kante – and it could involve Philippe Coutinho.
The Catalan club are craving a defensive midfielder capable of covering ground with Kante an obvious choice.
Tottenham man Tanguy Ndombele has also been touted as a possible option but Mundo Deportivo claim Barcelona believe Kante can help their squad take a major step forward.
Reports have stated he could be available for a fee of around £61million in the summer having failed to establish a clear role in Frank Lampard’s refreshed Chelsea side.
But Philippe Coutinho could also come into play as part of their transfer plan.

Yet the club are aware clubs are set to be unwilling to part with a huge sum for Coutinho after his recent struggles, especially given the financial fall-out of the coronavirus pandemic.
As a result, they could look to offer a swap and use Coutinho as a tool to land Kante, bolstering their defensive midfield options whilst giving Lampard more of the attacking creativity he has craved.
Coutinho’s future remains uncertain, with Tottenham amongst those keeping tabs and Manchester United also touching base.
Last week, his agent Kia Joorabchian said: “The Premier League is something that he has always enjoyed playing in, and loved playing in, and would probably love to come back and play in.”
