Chelsea evening headlines as Lautaro Martinez price-tag is revealed and David Luiz admission

Here are your Chelsea evening headlines for Wednesday, April 15.

David Luiz opens up on leaving Chelsea for Arsenal

David Luiz has spoken about his departure from Chelsea last summer and the challenge of leaving Stamford Bridge for Arsenal.

The Brazilian centre back made the surprise switch to the Emirates Stadium on transfer deadline day last summer after it was made clear to the player by Frank Lampard that he was not guaranteed to be a starter for the Blues.

“First of all, I was always very happy at Chelsea,” Luiz explained to ESPN Brazil. “And then the understanding of knowing that my cycle was over, even though I thought it wasn’t going to end that way, in a quick decision.

“I decided to leave Chelsea before I even had my doors open at Arsenal. I know that Arsenal did not come at a great moment, they are heavy on defence, I will go there and I will have to pay the restaurant bill without having eaten. But I am going because I want something new for my life, I want to learn.

“It was not easy at first. Not only of adaptation, but withstanding the criticism, the sadness of many Chelsea fans for not understanding my personal decisions.

“My respect and love for Chelsea has always been true.”

Lautaro Martinez won’t be ‘cheap’ as Chelsea target new centre forward

Chelsea are expected to prioritise a move for a new centre forward when the transfer window opens, but Lautaro Martinez wouldn’t come on the “cheap.”

The Argentine striker has attracted a number of potential suitors with his impressive performances for Antonio Conte’s Inter this season with Barcelona and Manchester City both reportedly holding an interest.

Luka Jovic and Moussa Dembele have been linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge while Luka Jovic could be a possibility on loan from Real Madrid.
