Reece James believes that he would happily slot into a midfield role at Chelsea if Frank Lampard asks him to in the future.
The 20-year-old has broken through into the Blues first team this season, having had a superb campaign on loan with Wigan Athletic.
Having suffered an ankle injury, the England youth international missed the beginning of the 2019/20 Premier League campaign.
However, he has made a good impression since coming into Lampard’s side at right-back, fighting with club captain Cesar Azpilicueta for the role.

While Lampard has been keen to use the youngster in that position, James also showed during his time at Wigan that he could move into a midfield slot.
And even though he prefers the right-back role right now, he would be happy to move into the middle of the park if needed.
“I probably prefer right-back but there is not much in it,” James told Sky Sports.
“I will happily play right-back and midfield – I have played there enough that I am comfortable playing that position as well.
“This season was slow getting started, because I was injured at the start.
“But, as I found my rhythm and the season has gone on, I think my performances have picked up.

“I think it’s great that loads of players I played with coming through the academy are now in the first team as well.
“I think it shows how hard the academy works and the effort they put in to produce good players.”
