Chelsea identify Jadon Sancho transfer alternative with Man Utd leading the chase

Chelsea are keeping tabs on Porto star Jesus Corona as a fall-back option in case they miss out on Jadon Sancho.

Blues boss Frank Lampard has Sancho firmly on his wish list but Manchester United are currently favourites to sign the £100m-rated Borussia Dortmund star.

Chelsea have been looking at potential alternatives and scouts have identified Corona as another option.

The 27-year-old Mexico winger, who can also play wing-back, has two goals and 17 assists in 41 games for Porto this season.

He has also played 42 times for his national team, and is rated at around £26m, making him a much cheaper option than Sancho.

Inter Milan and Sevilla have also enquired about Corona, who once turned down a move to Barcelona for the chance of first-team football at Twente.

But with Willian and Pedro both expected to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, Chelsea are in the market for wingers and could be tempted to make a move.

Bournemouth forward Josh King, who came close to joining Manchester United in January and is out of contract next summer, has also emerged as a potential target.

But Chelsea’s big spend of the summer is more likely to be on a striker, with Lyon’s Moussa Dembele still on their radar.

The club’s ambition in the transfer market will be dictated by whether or not they qualify for the Champions League, with Lampard’s men sitting in fourth before the season was suspended.
