Chelsea have announced the signing of Timo Werner after completing a £47.5million deal for the RB Leipzig striker.
Werner will stay with Leipzig for the rest of the German league season before joining up with his new Chelsea teammates in July.
Frank Lampard was keen to strengthen his attack this summer after failing to land a striker in the January transfer window.
And Werner’s arrival will add to an-already impressive looking forward line ahead of next season. A deal to sign Hakim Ziyech from Ajax has already been confirmed, whilst Tammy Abraham and Christian Pulisic have impressed this season.

Werner’s favoured position is through the middle, which could provide a challenge for Abraham, but the Germany international has already explained that he can be used in an array of different roles across the front line.
“I’m playing in a slightly different position as a kind of No.10,” Werner explained earlier this season.
“That helps me a lot. I’ve got a lot of freedom.
“You often have to wait a long time for your chance and stay patient. But I’ve developed in that regard.”
He also added: “I’ve become more versatile under [RB Leipzig coach] Julian Nagelsmann, and have already played in a number of positions. I haven’t just played out on the left or right… but also as a No.10 or lone striker.”
Speaking after the deal was confirmed, Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia revealed her delight after landing one of Europe’s most highly-rated strikers.
