Chelsea player ratings: Christian Pulisic electric as Willian penalty seals win vs Man City

Kepa Arrizabalaga

Almost got Chelsea into a dire position with a poor ball early in the game. Made up for it later on with an excellent save to deny Fernandinho.

Some question marks over whether he could have done more with the Kevin De Bruyne free-kick, but it was a wonderful effort. 6

Cesar Azpilicueta

Was pinned down more over the course of the game and struggled to make much of the ball going forward. But his defensive play was excellent.

The Spaniard was up against Raheem Sterling, but he kept him pretty quiet through much of the game. 7

Andreas Christensen

Looked a lot more composed and strong in the tackle during the first half. Not easy against the roaming City front line, but dealt with it well.

In the second half he was excellent as well, and stood up tall to the task when called upon. Exactly what was needed. 8

Antonio Rudiger

Strong in the header and the back line looked a lot more organised in the first half, with City only really having chances from deep. Got Kepa out of trouble early in the game.

Like his defensive partner he was strong as well, although a couple of mistakes which almost cost Chelsea in the second half. 7

Marcos Alonso

There was only one chance where he really got forward in the first half and it came to nothing. But defensively he did pretty well as well.

In the second half he really sat back to protect, and Riyad Mahrez had very little of the ball and impact. 7

N’Golo Kante

Impressive again in the holding role and crucially broke up play at times and held a good position to not let City have a lot of joy around the box.

In the second half, it was his foul which led to the goal, but he was exposed. But solid again and pressed in the right areas. 8
