Frank Lampard has insisted Manchester City are the best team in the country after Liverpool won the Premier League thanks to Chelsea.
Pep Guardiola’s men could not afford any slip-ups, with them needing to win every remaining match this season to stand a chance of defending their crown.
However, that was always going to be a tall order with the title a foregone conclusion for many months now.
Regardless, Guardiola will be devastated that his side’s loss saw them relinquish their title.
It came about after a 2-1 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge after goals from Christian Pulisic and Willian.
But Lampard has branded City the best team in the country, despite Liverpool’s domination of the Premier League.

“It was tough,” Lampard told BT Sport after the match.
“When you come up against a team of Manchester City’s quality – in individuals, in the way they’re coached – for me, they’re the best, in terms of the way they play football, so great to watch.
“Pep and Jurgen Klopp are different class, hence why Liverpool are winning the league tonight!
“We had to work every bit that we could to try and get a result.
“We had to work defensively so, so hard and we did it, and we created the better chances on the night.”
Pulisic grabbed the opener courtesy of an error from Benjamin Mendy.
