The big Kai Havertz transfer problem Frank Lampard and Chelsea could have

Chelsea want to complete a £90million move for Kai Havertz this summer.

And all the talk of late has suggested they would do just that, proving they could sort out a payment plan with Bayer Leverkusen.

A number of other clubs have been linked with a move for the 21-year-old but as the weeks have gone on the number of interested parties have gradually dwindled.

Bayern Munich had been the frontrunners, before Chelsea entered the race, but they have been put off by his astronomical price tag.

Antonio Rudiger has even been trying to convince the youngster to join Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner as the third summer signing at Stamford Bridge.

However, while all things point to Chelsea completing a deal this summer, there could be one big problem – a lack of CHampions League football.

The Blues are third in the Premier League table, but defeat to Sheffield United on Saturday means they could be leapfrogged by both Leicester City and Manchester United on Sunday.

And that could impact their ability to convince Havertz to sign.

Leverkusen missed out on the top four in Germany, finishing fifth, leading to Havertz reportedly asking for a transfer this summer.
