Frank Lampard has sent a message to Antonio Rudiger after the defender struggled when coming off the bench during Chelsea’s loss to Sheffield United.
Rudiger was left out of Lampard’s starting XI for the third straight game with the Blues falling to defeat at Bramall Lane.
The centre-back came off the bench with the score 2-0 to the hosts due to an injury to Andreas Christensen, though Rudiger failed to impress.
Having lost his place after the defeat to West Ham, the German played no part in recent wins against Watford and Crystal Palace.
And following his disappointing return, Lampard told the defender to keep fighting for his place.

Asked about Rudiger’s reaction to not starting recently, and his performance in the second half, Lampard said: “There was no reaction. What reaction are you talking about? Something you know?
“No he’s been very positive, very positive in training.
“I have selection problems – I say this every press conference – with trying to pick a team out of the squad because there’s competition within the group. And so there’s no problem with him.”
Chelsea have now conceded 49 Premier League goals this season – a tally that they have only ‘worsened’ once in the last 23 years.
Asked about the defending as a whole, and how patient he can afford to be with his current back-line, Lampard added: “Well we made mistakes, we made mistakes that led to goals, individual errors.
“And obviously if you’re going to make mistakes like that you’re going to lose football matches against good teams, and Sheffield United are a good team.
