Frank Lampard has sent a message to his Chelsea stars warning then about Manchester United’s ability to pick up penalties.
The two teams will face each other in the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday, taking on either Arsenal or Manchester City in the final on August 1.
But they may be facing Lady Luck too, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side picking up a Premier League record 13 penalties this season.
And the Blues boss delivered a message of caution to his players ahead of the Wembley clash.
Speaking in the pre-match press conference, Lampard said: “They have to be.
“Because when players of such high level, quality and speed of the Manchester United forwards travel quickly you have to move your feet and not dive in on them.

“You need to understand the qualities of the opposition, with players like that. Fernandes is very clever in his movement. We saw that at Aston Villa to make something feel like a penalty where maybe it even isn’t.
“As a player we can talk about VAR decisions and whether they’re right or wrong.
“But if a player is going to dangle a leg and not move their feet then you obviously do leave yourself open to penalties, VAR or no VAR.”
United have also been on the right side of VAR this season, with Bruno Fernandes notably winning a penalty against Aston Villa while Victor Lindelof’s tackle on Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha was not question.

And the Chelsea boss expressed his desire to see the technology work for them against United.
“It would be nice if VAR worked in our favour in this one, I would guess,” Lampard added.
