What Frank Lampard has told Marina Granovskaia about Dean Henderson amid Chelsea transfer plan

Chelsea are ready to offer Dean Henderson more than double his wages in order to lure him from Manchester United, according to reports.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper has enjoyed a highly successful two years on loan at Sheffield United, playing a key part in their promotion to the Premier League – and this season, their surprise challenge for European places.

Henderson’s contract at Manchester United runs out in 2022, but according to The MEN, the player is only willing to return to Old Trafford if he is assured of a first team place, rather than to compete with David de Gea.

The MEN also claim that Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has told Blues chiefs to gauge the possibility of a move for Henderson, with contact already made with the player’s representatives.

Henderson reportedly earns around £70,000 a week but Sheffield United have paid the majority of his salary over the last year and Chelsea are prepared to offer £170,000-a-week.

The search comes as Lampard’s dissatisfaction with current first choice Kepa Arrizabalaga grows.

The Spaniard was briefly dropped earlier in the season, but regained his place after a series of improved performances.

This has seen Chelsea also linked with a move for Jan Oblak, with Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone previously failing to issue a hands-off warning when asked about his goalkeeper’s future by Cadena SER .

Simeone said: “It is normal that they want a goalkeeper of the characteristics and value that Oblak has and it doesn’t surprise me because he is very good.
