Chelsea tipped for surprise transfer

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has suggested Chelsea could swoop in and sign goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.

Frank Lampard is having some issues in the goalkeeper department, with the Blues boss dropping Kepa Arrizabalaga for the final game of the season against Wolves.

And, according to a fearful Wright, he might just look to fix the issue by signing Gunners keeper Martinez, who has impressed in the absence of the injured Bernd Leno.

“What frightens me is you look at someone like Frank [Lampard] and you look at what Chelsea’s doing, you just say to yourself, ‘Do you know something? Can we prise him away?’,” Wright said. “This is what worries me, simply because you look at what he’s done and how he plays, he is better than Kepa now.

“I think he’s probably better than Bernd Leno if I’m going to be totally honest, from what I’ve seen. I’d be gutted [if Martinez left].”

Werner’s first Chelsea training session

Timo Werner has completed his first Chelsea training session since completing his £47.5m transfer from RB Leipzig.

On Sunday morning, the 24-year-old landed in London and was in attendance at Stamford Bridge to watch his new teammates secure Champions League football for next season with a 2-0 win over Wolves.

Less than 24 hours after witnessing his first live Chelsea game in person, Werner took part in his first training session at the club’s base in Cobham.

It was a light session that included some work with the ball and one which the striker enjoyed as he uploaded an image on to his official Instagram account after being put through his paces.

“First training, first time wearing blue!” he wrote.
