Chelsea player ratings: Christian Pulisic bright but defence dire in FA Cup final defeat

Willy Caballero

Nice save early to settle the nerves. Couldn’t do much about the penalty and didn’t put much of a foot wrong in the first half.

It was a superb finish from Aubameyang to net the second. Didn’t do much wrong through the match. 6

Cesar Azpilicueta

Maybe the worst final he could have hoped for. Gave away the penalty for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to equalise and then went off in the 35th minute with a hamstring injury. 3

Kurt Zouma

The defence were all over the place at times in the first half and the high line was an issue. Moved to the right of the back three when Azpilicueta went off.

Similar in the second half, and he was beaten all ends up by Aubameyang for the second goal. Really not a great evening. 4

Antonio Rudiger

Poor at the beginning when he let Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang go for a chance. Struggled a lot with Nicolas Pepe’s skill.

Even worse in the second half as well, as the defender really didn’t put in a good performance. Positioning and performance was not good. 2

Reece James

Played really high and left the defence a bit exposed at times. Couldn’t really add much in the attacking sense, either and was kept quiet.

A bit more involved in the second half, and moved centrally at times to get the ball. But not enough impact in the match. 6

Mateo Kovacic

An early yellow card which was a worry, but his dribbling was superb at times to get Chelsea out of trouble. Struggled to get hold of the midfield halfway through the first half.

Very, very harsh to get the second yellow card to be sent off. Before that he had looked good and worked the ball well through the midfield. 6

Jorginho

Looked very comfortable at first, but then when Arsenal really got into the game Jorginho couldn’t really get a grip on the match.

A period of the game managed to control the tempo, but…
