Christian Pulisic taken off injured in FA Cup final with Chelsea star left in agony

Christian Pulisic was taken off injured just minutes into the second half of the FA Cup final with the Chelsea star suffering an apparent hamstring injury.

Pulisic had put Chelsea ahead against Arsenal at Wembley with a fine effort before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang levelled from the penalty spot.

Pulisic has been impressive for Frank Lampard this season and was immediately onto the attack in the second half.

But as the American burst forward his screams could be heard as he fell to the pitch with no Arsenal player near him.

He was treated on the pitch before being helped off, clearly in agony following his injury.

BBC Radio 5 Live pundit Dion Dublin said: “I was right behind Christian Pulisic when he went down.

“He was trying to open himself out but even before he struck the ball he slowed down

“As soon as he struck it his hand went straight to the top of his hamstring and you saw the pain in his face. He slammed his hand on the ground. That looked really painful.”

Chelsea fans were quick to pass on their well wishes to Pulisic with the Champions League still to be completed and next season just six weeks away.

One wrote: “Feel for Pulisic. Takes a lot of luck and work to always be fit. Biggest concern for his future is availability.”

While another added: “Honestly it sucks for Pulisic’s place in the squad, but he should really wait a bit before coming back for the new season. We have enough talent coming in to get by offensively.”

And a third put: “Unfortunate for Pulisic. He suffers an injury at the start of 2nd half and has to leave the pitch. Just when things were starting to turn up for him, he suffers an injury. A loss to Chelsea and entire football since he was playing some beautiful football.”
