Chelsea join queue behind Arsenal for 17 year old Portuguese talent » Chelsea News

The academies of Portugal churn out brilliant players on a yearly basis, and its no surprise to see Premier League teams signing younger and younger talents in a bid to undercut their rivals.

The latest gem in demand from Premier League teams is Joelson Fernandes, a 17 year old from the Sporting Lisbon academy who looks like he could develop into a very special player.

A Bola today start with claims that Arsenal have made a €32m offer for the teenager, which seems a crazy idea, but they also maintain that Chelsea are watching from the wings, perhaps unsurprisingly given the kid’s agent is Kia Joorabchian, who has great connections at Stamford Bridge.

This summer the Blues look to have their budget tied up in repairing Frank Lampard’s first team, but if Joelson is still at Sporting in a year’s time, it seems like the Blues could be one of the teams making an effort to bring him to the Premier League.
