West Ham would laugh off a bid of £50m if Chelsea came calling for Declan Rice.
That is the verdict from Sky Sports transfer guru Kaveh Solhekol.
Strengthening the defence at Stamford Bridge is one of the most important tasks Frank Lampard has on his to-do list this summer.
The Englishman has four centre-backs but has lost trust in all of them throughout the campaign.
It has been a particularly leaky year at the back for the Blues – who have let in 54 goals in the Premier League, the most in the top 10.
Lampard has eyed a number of defenders, including Matthias Ginter, Jose Gimenez and Gabriel Magalhaes.
Declan Rice has had a fine year at West Ham
But it is West Ham’s Rice that the former Derby boss wants to get his hands on.
The England international spent 12 years with Chelsea’s academy before being released and is close pals with Mason Mount.
However, the Hammers have no intention of letting their star man go and reports emerged that a £50m bid had been made.
There has been some disrepute over whether this happened or not but, regardless, West Ham would never have accepted it.
He said: “West Ham have dismissed reports they have received £50m bid from Chelsea for Declan Rice.
Mount and Rice are close pals
“He’s not for sale, any £50m bid would be laughed off & West Ham hope he stays for many years.
“He has long-term contract until 2024 and West Ham have option of extending it by another year.”
As well as Ben Chilwell, who would cost in the region of £80m, Lampard has some thinking to do.
