Chelsea could have a very different starting XI in the 2020/21 season.
Frank Lampard may have secured Champions League football for next season with a fourth-place Premier League finish, but there was plenty of improvement to be made in defence having conceded 54 goals in the league.
That could lead to three new defenders joining the club to follow the attacking duo of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech to Stamford Bridge, and all of them have Premier League experience.
Roman Abramovich is said to have given Marina Granovskaia the ‘green light’ for each of the defenders, who could will cost upwards of a combined £100m.

The Times have reported that Ben Chilwell, 23, of Leicester City is on the brink of joining Chelsea after a breakthrough in talks, and his valuation is set at £80m.
The left-back is likely to jump above Marcos Alonso in the pecking order, and would take the Blues summer spending to over £150m after only three incoming deals.
In addition, the Mirror have reported that John Stones, 26, of Manchester City and Lewis Dunk of Brighton are set to join Lampard in a double swoop that would transform his option in central defence.
England intentional Stones has fallen out of favour under Pep Guardiola and could be available for a cut price deal as he tries to find a new challenge in the Premier League.
