Man Utd and Chelsea eye David Alaba with transfer possible ‘within a fortnight’

Bayern Munich star David Alaba could be set for a move to the Premier League, after negotiations over a new contract with the German champions reached a critical stage.

Bayern were hoping to have a new deal already sorted but Sky Sports are reporting that the player will decide his future once the Champions League is over, with Manchester United and Chelsea interested in his services.

Alaba has been a key part of Bayern’s success this year, having adapted to playing at centre-back, and rejected the latest €15m-a-year (£13.5m) deal.

The 28-year-old believes he is worth the same as Bayern’s top earners Manuel Neuer, Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller.

“And he must know one thing: no club is as familiar, comfortable and pleasant as FC Bayern. Fortunately, the clubs that he would like to join haven’t come knocking for him so far, and…
